The three popular options today are iPhone, Android and Windows Phone 7. Blackberry do decent phones, but I think are just getting beaten in terms of ease of use, apps and general look and feel. Samsung also do a number of smart phones running their own operating systems. What you go for depends on price. iPhone is premium. Currently WP7 is also premium, with Nokia producing a couple of excellent handsets. Android covers all price points.

This is Nokia's entry level WP7 mobile. I think WP7 is great - it looks lovely, is easy to use and Nokia do great phones.

iPhone 4S is the latest generation. It's hard not to be satisfied with an iPhone, they just work really well. The 4S has a great camera too, and very good quality screen.

In Android something like the Samsung S II competes with the iPhone. It's a great phone (I like Android. It's good, but in my opinion not quite as simple and elegant as iPhone or WP7).
