Elliebellx Cornish Have you ever tried memory foam? I find that if you don't want to pay out lots for a mattress you can buy an average priced one and then get a memory foam topper. These are extremely comfortable if you like soft mattresses and they are very well priced at around £100.

Elliebellx Cornish The best way to select a mattress is to try it first. So it is always best to buy in store. Don't be deterred by the salesmen though, some of them know what they are talking about and some of them are just 'salesmen'. If you are comfortable laying on it then it doesn't matter how much it is or whether it's a best seller, so go into a shop and try out a few of them.

Helen Tovey I just got Lazee Beds cushion top mattress from Argos for £209 mattress (link below) and it's great - it's quite firm though so might not be what you are looking for. Investing £200 seems like the starting price for a good mattress. I think the memory foam mattresses are definitely worth trying out as they are super comfortable - it's quite different from a sprung mattress so worth seeing if you actually like it before buying. They also tend to be more expensive.
