Out of all the apps that show nearby places and recommendations, I just use the simplest one because that is all I want most of the time e.g. nearest restaurants, petrol stations, atm's etc

I haven't used Evernote but Catch is a great note taker and is constantly being improved. The FREE account gives the user 70mb storage which is pretty decent.

Save articles from the web for offline reading and sharing. Instapaper is probably my most used app, it cuts all the clutter from a web page and gives you just the text and images formatted for readability.
