Roughly how much are you looking to spend? And do you know what size you want (or how far away do you sit from the TV)?

Philip Woodward Nice budget :)... I'll put together a few recommendations then
i'm looking for the entire home cinema set-up. Got a pretty large basement that i'm planning to convert into a cinema room.. I'd say its about the size of a double garage. budget would be no more than £20,000

12 best 3D TVs in the world today

Philip Woodward It's worth reading this about 3D TVs. They are still first generation, so there are some trade offs. But that's the price of early adoption :)

Panasonic Viera TX-P55VT30 Plasma HD 1080p 3D TV, 55" with Built-in freesat HD & Freeview HD

Philip Woodward It's getting the best press for 3D TVs. Panasonic is the only brand still pushing the plasma route, and it seems this technology is producing a great 3D picture - though potentially a little darker than other LCD brands. But as you're in a garage that will be OK. Really it's got everything you'd want build in - freesat, freeview HD, online services, DLNA networking and playback of music/video from USB/SD card. It's very, very cool.

Panasonic TY-ew3D2ME Rechargeable Active Shutter 3D Glasses for GT and VT Plasma Range - Medium

Philip Woodward You'll want a couple of extra glasses. They come in different sizes.

Sevenoaks Sound and Vision - Onkyo TX-NR5009 AV Receiver (New Model - Now Available)

Philip Woodward I have a much more modest Onkyo, the 606. Awesome sound. This is one of their flagship products. 9.2 surround. Networked. 220 watts, which is pretty loud. Multizone (3). You have 8 3D ready HDMI inputs, with one on the front which is very handy for making ad-hoc connections (eg phone, camera, etc). Very nice indeed.

CM Series | Overview - Bowers & Wilkins | B&W Speakers

Philip Woodward Very aspirational. Reason for suggestion: What Hi-Fi review: http://www.whathifi.com/review/bw-cm9-theatre

Sevenoaks Sound and Vision - Denon DBP-2012UD3D Blu-ray Player (Save £100)

Philip Woodward You'll be needing a nice 3D blu-ray player. I actually rate a PS3 pretty highly for blu-ray output, but you'll want something to match the level of the rest of the kit.

Sony PlayStation 3 Console (320GB Slim Model) with Resistance 3 and Battle: Los Angeles (Blu-ray Movie) Bundle

Philip Woodward You might as well get a PS3. 3D games!
cheers mate for all your help! some very good suggestions! :)

Logitech Harmony 900 Universal Remote Control

Philip Woodward You'll need a universal remote, otherwise... things will get complicated. I have the model below this. With all this kit it's worth investing a bit more for this one. A little tricky to set up, but you only need to do it once then it works like a dream. The 1100 is above this, but I don't really understand the value (it costs almost as much as an iPad). The 900 has RF - which means you get a separate 'IR blaster' that sends the signals so you don't need to point the remote.

AudioQuest K2 terminated speaker cable - UST plugs 8' (2.44m) pair

Philip Woodward FOR AMUSEMENT VALUE ONLY. Read the reviews. Very funny. (Cables are important, these are probably not required, the price has come up wrong, it's missing a digit at the front!...)
